Civilization 6 Announced for October 2016

2016-05-11 - orzo

Civilization 6 is coming. It will be available on 21st October 2016 - on Linux as well.
The announcement is hardly a surprise. Civ5 has been dominating Steam top 10 for years, despite being the worst in the series. Obviously, even the "worst" Civ is still a great game. I wasted some 200 hours in it :) every couple of months I reinstalled it just to prove to myself: yes, I enjoyed the previous games more. Yes, Firaxis has been milking the franchise dry for far too long.
The first screenshots look nice, though.

Linux Release List 3.2016

2016-04-29 - orzo

Linux Release List has been updated for March 2016.
This month has been dominated by quality point&click games, be it Deponia Doomsday from Daedelic, or cute pirate adventure Nelly Cootalot, but nevertheless there's been plenty from other genres as well:
- hack'n'slash phenomenon Hyper Light Drifter
- second Angry Video-game Nerd retro-platformer
- grim pixelated survivalist sim Sheltered from Team17
- Paws, sequel to Shelter
- or turn-based isometric RPG Balrum that (on paper) sounds like single-player Ultima Online.

Linux Release List 2.2016

2016-03-13 - orzo

Linux Release List has been updated for Feb 2016. We have seen several major games this month, be it "full-price" 50eu XCOM2 by Firaxis / Feral, or half a dozen self-published indie games: American Truck Simulator (by Prague-based SCS Software), Firewatch (a debut by Campo Santo), Layers of Fear (by Polish Bloober Team), Plague Inc: Evolved (Ndemic Creations) or Gnomoria.
February 2016 is one the biggest months yet in history of Linux gaming, both qualitatively and quantitatively. All of the mentioned games represent their own niche genre; you won't find that kind of diversity on any other platform but PC... And everything suggests the year will just get better.
